PetalWed ("we," "us," "our") provides wedding-planning tools at this site. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up, we receive your email, name, and avatar (if provided) from our authentication provider, Clerk. Your password is stored and hashed by Clerk and never reaches our servers.
  • Wedding planning data. Information you enter into our tools — budget, guest list, timeline tasks, seating chart — is stored in our database and associated with your account.
  • Local-storage data. When using public tools at /tools/* without an account, your data is stored only in your browser and never sent to our servers unless you sign up.
  • Payment information. If you upgrade to Pro, payment details are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Usage data. We collect basic analytics (page views, anonymized device info) to understand how the product is used.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our planning tools.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To send essential service emails (account, billing).
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.

3. Data sharing

We share data only with the following processors:

  • Clerk (authentication)
  • Stripe (payments)
  • Microsoft Azure (hosting and database)
  • Anthropic (AI features, Pro only — anonymized prompts)
  • Vercel (hosting)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your wedding data with advertisers.

4. Affiliate links

Some links on our tools point to third-party retailers (e.g., Etsy, Amazon, Booking.com). If you make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This does not change the price you pay or affect our recommendations.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, basic analytics, and to remember preferences. Essential cookies cannot be disabled; you may opt out of analytics in your browser settings.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of analytics

7. Data retention

We retain your account and wedding data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.

8. Children

PetalWed is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update the "last updated" date and notify account holders of material changes via email.
